Australian Botanic Garden

Jennifer Wilkinson

After many years of painting, drawing and craft work Jennifer began botanical art in 1996, under the guidance of Jenny Phillips at the Melbourne School of Botanical Art. Her lifelong interest in gardening and art came together in a happy marriage in this artistic branch of natural science. In the same year she exhibited for the first time in the selected biennial exhibition The Art of Botanical Illustration which is held at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne. She has continued to exhibit there since. She has exhibited in many group and solo exhibitions in Tasmania, Melbourne and Sydney. Her art work is represented in collections in Australia and overseas.

In 2007 Jenniferís work was selected for inclusion in the Highgrove Florilegium. This is a project in which botanical artists from around the world were invited to submit paintings of plants which grow in the gardens at Highgrove, the residence of His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales. In 2008 Jennifer was awarded the Celia Rosser Medal for Botanical Art by the Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne. This award is presented to an artist who has reflected the excellence of Celia Rosser in their own botanical art.
