She then worked as a graphic designer, specialising in computer generated artwork through to prepress finals. Mary Ann was a calligrapher for 15 years before deciding to take a long-term passion in gardens further by studying Horticulture. Mary Ann has exhibited in several local art shows with prizes for her calligraphy, botanical illustration and still life watercolours.
In 2004, Mary Ann moved to the central western town of Orange, where she now works as a horticulturist in a garden centre as well as maintaining her teaching and painting of botanical art.
