Sandra Sanger 

Sandra Sanger previously worked as a graphic artist and lectured in Drawing, Art and Design at RMIT University for 35 years. After retiring in 2000, Sandra joined botanical illustration classes at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne. Sandra enjoys working in a realistic and detailed way, and this subject area combines her interest in plant forms, rendering and watercolour. Sandra has a special interest in including microscopic details in her botanical studies.

Her paintings have been widely exhibited, including at the Art of Botanical Illustration exhibitions, Melbourne (since 2000), and at the RHS in Birmingham, UK (2008 and 2010), receiving a Gold Medal in each exhibition. Sandra was awarded the Celia Rosser Award ‘for an outstanding painting exhibited in The Art of Botanical Illustration (2008). Other exhibitions include: The Eternal Order In Nature (2011), The Science of Botanical Illustration, Melbourne (2012) and Botanica, Royal Botanic Garden Sydney (2012). Sandra’s work is represented in private collections in Australia and overseas,in the State Botanical Collection, RHS Lindley Library, London (UK) and the Florilegium Society, Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney.
