Location

This plant can be found growing in bed 167 in the Banksia Garden, in bed 249 in the Fruit Loop and in beds 271 and 272 in the Visitor Car Park.

This form of Banksia ericifolia has unusual multiple flower spikes that mature into beautiful creamy white flowers with burgundy red styles. In autumn the flowers are prominently displayed above the green fine-leaved heath-like foliage.

Occurring on the far north coast of New South Wales this subspecies of Banksia has been found growing in swampy sites within 2 kilometres of the coast.

This shrub grows up to 5 m high with an open habit. The nectar rich flowers make it an excellent choice for attracting both insectivorous and honey-eating birds. It grows well in full sun with a free draining soil.
