Common Name: Red Spider-flower

Grevillea sericea

Location

This species occurs in the wild from Buckety to the Parramatta River in New South Wales. In the Banksia Garden at Mount Annan we’ve used it as a low informal hedge around paths and part of the carpark.

A small to medium shrub which spot flowers throughout the year but puts on a spectacular display of scarlet flowers in late winter to early spring.

It is fairly common in the nursery trade as it tolerates a wide range of climatic variations. It prefers a sunny or partially shaded position in well-drained soil and is frost hardy.
