Location

This is one of our best known mallee eucalypts and only occurs in a restricted area in south Western Australia on a small number of granite outcrops.

It is not common in the Sydney area as it prefers a dry summer and well-drained soils so why not take the opportunity to see it  in our Eucalypt Arboretum on Cunningham Drive, just opposite the hoop sculpture?

It grows to about 15 metres in height with pendulous branches and is known in cultivation as ‘Silver Princess’. The flowers are large (up to 50 mm in diameter) and normally pink to red but white flowered plants are known. Flowering is very conspicuous and occurs in winter and spring and is followed by large, silver urn-shaped gumnuts about 30 mm in diameter.
