School holiday activities January 2010

The three Gardens have a changing program of hands-on activities designed for children during the school holidays. Activities often cater for the whole family.

Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney

A Passage to India ... lots and lots of lotuses!

Inspired by the AGNSW exhibition 'Garden & Cosmos', the Botanic Gardens Trust has developed an Indian themed summer holiday program. Children will take a guided walk to see the lotus ponds in full bloom, make block prints using lotus seed pods and paint henna patterns on bamboo ‘paper’ or their hands and feet.

When:  Mon 11-Fri 15 & Mon 18-Fri 22 January. Two sessions daily: 10.30-12 noon and 1-2.30 pm
Cost: $15 per child (6-12 years), $13.50 discount for Friends or groups (10 or more)

Mount Tomah Botanic Garden

Twisted Twirly Trees

Create your own twisted twirly trees covered in magical tiny leaves during these school holidays.
 
When: Thurs 8 Oct  & Wed 14 Oct, 11am - 1pm
Where: Waratah World Heritage Education Centre
Cost: $12 per head + Darden entry fee (Parents pay entry fee only)

Mr Sneeze and the Lost Bees

Help Mr Sneeze find the gold in the Garden. Family self-guided activity suitable for sleuths of all ages.

When: all spring, 10 am-4 pm (5 pm during daylight saving)
Where: Mount Tomah Botanic Garden 
Cost: $3.00 per quest + Garden entry
