The three Gardens have a changing program of hands-on activities designed for children during the school holidays. Activities are fun for the whole family.

Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney 

Koori Capers! Children’s School Holiday Activity

Explore the Aboriginal history of the Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney in this celebration of NAIDOC week. Learn about how the Cadi people used local plants for bush tucker and enjoy storytelling and dot-painting with our Aboriginal Educators.

When: Monday 8 July - Friday 12 July. Two sessions daily: 10.30-12.00 noon and 1.00 - 2.30 pm
Where: Education Centre, Royal Botanic Garden Sydney
Cost: Foundation & Friends members $15 per child, non-members $16.50 per child (age-range 6-12 years). Cost includes all craft materials

Australian Garden Safari for Kids

Discover more about the Garden on a self-guided adventure safari these school holidays. Learn more about the fascinating flora and interesting fauna of the Australian Botanic Garden while searching for hidden clues! Collect a map and safari kit from the Visitor Centre between 10 am and 4.30 pm (takes up to one hour to complete).

When: Monday 1 - Sunday 14 July, 10 am - 4.30 pm

Kids with Big Ideas Day - Family Fun

The Kids with Big Ideas day is a fun way for children to learn the importance of conservation. Kids can become junior conservation rangers on the day by completing activities such as the water wise discovery trail, worm farming and composting workshops and recycling audits.

The event will offer entertainment, face-painting and a prize for the most impressive recycled craft creation. Learn how you can incorporate sustainability principles into your own family garden.

Blue Mountains Botanic Garden, Mount Tomah

The Really Bitey Quest

Find out about surprising animal and plant carnivores on the Really Bitey Quest where sometimes the hunter becomes the hunted…The quest takes approximately 45 minutes exploring different areas of the Garden.

When: All autumn and winter, 9.30 am - 5.00 pm

The Wollemi Warrior Adventure children’s interactive performance

The evil Doctor Fungus is trying to steal the map which shows the secret location of the Wollemi pine. Belinda Bilby is the Wollemi Warrior who is determined to stop Doctor Fungus and preserve the Wollemi’s safety.

Join in a fun interactive quest to save the famous Wollemi pine with lots of fun and play suitable for kids of all ages.
