Sign on for the adventure and follow in the footsteps of Governor Macquarie using smartphone technology. A select group of stage 3 and 4 students will have the opportunity to take part in an exciting project in the Royal Botanic Garden during History Week, 4-12 September 2010.
From a choice of adventures, students will undertake a quest and explore historic events right where they happened, developing their ICT skills as they encounter challenges and solve problems.
Over the course of an hour, students will work in small groups to locate and explore programmed locations within the Royal Botanic Garden, uncovering intriguing stories from the past via audio, video and text. At each location, students earn points by meeting a challenge as they work against the clock to complete their quest.
The project has been developed in a trial of GPS location-based technology being conducted by the Centre for Learning Innovation.
