Save a Species fundraising walk

Itís a common misconception that our knowledge about plant species is anywhere close to complete. More than 85 per cent of Australiaís plants are unique to the Australian landscape, and the United Nations Environment Program describes that Australia is the fifth most floristically diverse country in the world.

A group of 6 horticulturists, curators and scientists from the Royal Botanic Gardens and Domain Trust have identified the need to step-up our efforts to conserve Australian flora and heritage and will walk 123 km from Mangrove Mountain to Mount Tomah this Easter (17-19 April) to raise money for three endangered plant species of the Sydney region, which can be found along the walk route. The fundraising target set is $6,000 which represents the cost for collecting plant specimens and lodging seeds at the Australian PlantBank, Australian Botanic Garden - the recently opened research facility with a core purpose to secure Australiaís plant diversity for the future.

Please support the walk team to reach their target by donating today!
