Acrylic Still Life

11 - 12 March 2010

Learn to paint still life with acrylics. The course emphasis will be on the close-up observation of nature and light. We will look at the basics of drawing and arranging of the objects on the canvas, to the setting out of the painting according to the tonal values and proceed to the careful building up and layering of colour to capture the light that reveals the fleshy essence of the fruit.

Art Master Class

23 - 26 March 2010

Conducted by acclaimed botanical artist Beverly Allen, this is a four day botanical painting workshop for artists with some experience.

With colour we will explore the light and shade, tone and form necessary to create a three dimensional illusion on paper. We'll analyse the layers of colour needed to depict a plant realistically, and learn techniques of colour mixing and application of washes. There will be an emphasis on the finer details that bring a painting to life and demonstrations of various techniques.

Stephie Goss - a Master Class with a difference

6 - 8 April 2010

Learn to paint your subject larger than life, express yourself artistically and have a wonderful big painting hanging on your wall.

We will paint on Arches 640 gsm paper and learn a painting technique which enables you to really experience the application of water colour washes using large brushes, and lots of paint and water. Your approach can be contemporary or traditional as you see your chosen colours merging on the paper. This workshop is for the young and not so young. Some experience with water colour painting would be an advantage.

Subject matter will be determined by seasonal fruit or vegetables.
