Julie Nettleton

You could say that my becoming a botanical artist has been via a pleasantly winding path with herbaceous borders rather than a well signed, brightly lit highway.

Throughout my earlier career as an interior designer and oil painter, I was always in awe of the beautiful designs of William Morris and Co., and the perfect spatial order of the architect Frank Lloyd Wright. They continue to be compelling inspiration, and much of what I learned and practised during those years I now find expression for within the wonderful pursuit of botanical art and illustration, its rigours and traditions.
