The Royal Botanic Garden will be open from 7 am until 3 pm on 31 December, with entry and exit via Morshead Gate only - located on the corner of Macquarie and Bent Streets. There will be no access to public viewing areas or ticketed event sites via the Garden at any time. The Royal Botanic Garden will close at 3 pm and all members of the public will be required to exit via Morshead Gate. View NYE information map.

Responsible Service of Alcohol

Only people aged 18 and over are able to drink and purchase alcoholic beverages. If you are aged between 18 and 25 years or look particularly young and wish to purchase alcohol at our events you may be asked to show proof of age. You will need to provide security and bar staff with the following proof of identity:

1. NSW Transport Drivers Licence or Interstate Drivers Licence www.rms.nsw.gov.au/licensing/index.html

2. International Passport (NO photocopies)

3. NSW RTA Photo Card www.olgr.nsw.gov.au/liquor_info_photo_card.asp or interstate Proof of Age cards

4. Overseas Driver Licences with photo ID incorporated.

International identification cards, International driver’s licences and internal (non-international) passports from other countries are not acceptable.

Foundation and Friends

New-Years-Eve-2012-by-Nicky-Hammond

Join Foundation & Friends to celebrate the New Year from the comfort of a private lawn in the Royal Botanic Garden. While the Garden is closed to the general public, members of Foundation & Friends have the special benefit of being able to purchase tickets to a family-friendly picnic in the Garden. With one of the best seats in the house, the Mare and Foal Lawn is the perfect place to enjoy the fireworks and welcome in 2015 with family and friends. Don’t delay as this event sells out fast.

This is a self-catered event. Patrons should bring their own picnic. There will be no food or beverages for sale at the event. We encourage the responsible consumption of alcohol. Excessive amounts of alcohol are not permitted.

No glass (including glassware, champagne, wine and beer bottles) or sharp knives are allowed. Any prohibited items found upon entry will be confiscated.
