Gardening help

Note that we do not provide a garden advisory service.

For all gardening help, we suggest you

  • seek advise from experienced staff at your local nursery
  • look at what is growing well in your local area
  • consult horticultural journals, magazines and reference books
  • visit nurseries that have the type of plants you want, e.g. some nurseries specialise in native plants and can provide a wide range to choose from
  • visit gardening expos and agricultural shows
  • use good reliable species to provide the basic framework of your garden
  • join the Friends of The Gardens or go along to the Growing Friends weekly plant sales
  • contact your local branch of the Australian Plants Society NSW (formerly Society for Growing Australian Plants NSW)
  • For information on plant pests & diseases, look the wide range of fact sheets provided by our Plant Disease Diagnostic Unit.
