Variable tufted perennial to 70 cm high with fine radiating roots. Longevity to 5 years.

Flowers: Spring and summer. Wind pollinated.

Fruit: Dry single seeded with hairy appearance produced between December February.

Seed: Dispersed locally. Fresh seed non-dormant, germinates readily.
