Erect annual herb  to 40 cm high with taproot 2 mm diameter, 5 cm deep and fire branches. Longevity less than one year.

Flowers: Pink, August – May.

Fruit: Capsule 6-8 mm long containing numerous seeds, December – February.

Ecology

  • Native of Europe.
  • Grassland habitat, pastures and roadsides.
  • Occasional minor weed in grassland at the Australian Botanic Garden.
