Perennial herb to 60 cm high, usually with a woody base. Longevity 2 - 5 years.

Flowers: Bright yellow mainly spring and summer.

Fruit: Achene minute with long yellow pappus hairs.

Seed: Wind dispersed.

Ecology

• Woodland and open forest habitat in grassy patches in full sun.
• Uncommon in woodland at the Australian Botanic Garden, localised in Ironbark woodland.
