Small densely tufted perennial herb, flowering stems 10-40 cm high, with very narrow shorter leaves, with dense, fine fibrous roots, 10 cm long. Longevity 2 - 5 years.

Flowers: September – December.

Fruit: Triangular nut, January – April.

Seed: Locally dispersed,may germinate within the inflorescence.
