Erect perennial to 50 cm high, densely branched at the base with blue-green leaves. Inflorescence on 40 cm  long stems. May live up to 4 years.

Flowers: Summer. Wind-pollinated.

Fruit: Dry single seeded. Produced late summer to autumn.

Seed: Probably dispersed by adhesion.

Ecology

• Found localised in grasslands and disturbed sites at the Australian Botanic Garden.
• Tolerates some mowing.
• Often found on roadsides.
• C4 warm season metabolism.
