Terrestrial leafless mycoheterotrophic orchid to 60 cm. Longevity indefinite.

Flowers: Up to 60 per inflorescence, pale pink with dark pink spots, summer. Pollinated by native bee Chalicodoma derelicta.

Fruit: Pod or capsule, to 30 mm. Splitting along seams.

Seed: Minute, dust like. Wind-dispersed.

Ecology

  • Woodland habitat, usually on sandstone.
  • Rare (3 occurances) in remnant woodlands at the Australian Botanic Garden.
