Herb to 40 cm high with hairy stems and leaves. Longevity less than one year.

Flowers: Pink, August - January.

Fruit: Capsule to 5 cm long, separating into 5 one-seeded sharply-pointed units with long awn.

Seed: Animal dispersed by adhesion.
