Perennial herb with a cylindrical corm 12-40 mm long and fleshy to fibrous roots. Longevity indefinite.

Flowers: Yellow, October – January. Possibly pollinated by honey bees or solitary bees.

Fruit: Capsule 2-5 mm long.

Seeds: Dark brown to black, 2 mm wide. Some dormancy. No specialised dispersal mechanism, local dispersal by gravity.
