Tufted annual herb to 20 cm high. Longevity less than 1 years.

Flowers: Pale yellow, with purple markings in centre, or blue to mauve with a yellowish throat, October – December.

Fruit: Capsule 2 – 4 mm diameter.

Seed: Numerous, small, black and pitted, 0.7 mm diameter. Soil stored seedbank.

• Native of South America.
