Perennial herb 5–18 cm high, with radical leaves, fleshy roots and short rhizome.

Flowers: White–bluish, October – May.

Fruit: Achene 2 x 0.5 mm, no pappus. Mature October – May.

Seed: Achene, locally dispersed, no dormancy with fresh seed.

Ecology

• Low growing grassy habitats Indifferent to exposure, light shade–full sun.
• Rare locallised in woodland at the Australian Botanic Garden.
• Tolerates mowing or slashing which stops crowding out by taller growing grasses.
• Probably resprouts at ground level after fire.
