Halina SteeleHalina commenced painting with watercolours in 2001 and has exhibited with Canberra Botanical 2003-2006, 2010; Wildlife and Botanical Artists (ACT) 2003-2008; Botanica 2004, 2005, 2007-2010 (Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney); Flora, the Art and Science of the Plant 2009 (BASA Annual Members' Exhibition Sydney); Florilegium, the inaugural exhibition of the Florilegium Society at the Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney Inc. (Red Box Gallery, Sydney), September 2008 and the 10th Annual Botanical Art Exhibition at the Filoli Center, California, USA in July 2008. In addition, Halina undertook her first joint exhibition (with Sharon Field), the Beauty and Transience of Nature at the Australian National Botanic Gardens in August 2011. In November 2004, Halina was awarded a Silver Medal by the Royal Horticultural Society in Westminster, London for a series of eight paintings depicting Australian Native Hibiscus. Halina has undertaken numerous commissions and she has received awards for her botanical works from the Wildlife and Botanical Artists (ACT). Halina's paintings were accepted for the 12th International Exhibition of Botanical Art and Illustration held in September 2007 at the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA where her paintings are now held in the Institute’s permanent collection. In July of the same year, she was invited to become a member of the Florilegium Society at the Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney resulting in one of her paintings being held in the permanent collection of the Royal Botanic Gardens & Domain Trust, Sydney. Halina is also a member of the Botanical Art Society of Australia and the American Society of Botanical Artists.
