Kate Nolan

Kate Nolan BSc., Dip. Ed., Dip. Vis Art is a Scientific/Natural History Illustrator. Clients include the Museum of Victoria, as well as the DNRE, ANCA and the ABRS, and publishers include Lonely Planet and Lothian Books. Private commissions have ranged from wedding bouquets to children’s pictures, and, of course, botanical or natural history artwork. Commercial work includes a ‘Megaspace’ scrapbook cover.

Kate has also taught botanical illustration short courses at TAFE and Insect Illustration courses at the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne.

Kate loves nature and art and has always sought, in her artwork, to illuminate the beauty of nature, whilst retaining a sense of clarity and scientific rigour. The constant struggle to reconcile the (often disparate) aims of art and science within the one artwork is a wonderful challenge for Kate. Kate also likes the idea of preserving for future generations a faithful record of species they may never know.
