Sheila GalbraithSheila’s ideology is based on nature - the acute observation and veneration of living plants. Sheila’s work retains individuality and is expressed honestly and with freedom from pretension. The love of the bush and the environment is inherent from her relative, the acclaimed etcher and painter, Jessie C.A. Traill, in whose evocative works she rejoices. Her awareness of the land with all its majesty and richness was heightened by her earliest years of upbringing in the beautiful unspoilt New England area of New South Wales. Botanical painting is Sheila’s passion, originating from early memories of her mother’s lovely flower paintings. |
