Metamorphosis - Celebration of impermanence & transformation

Metamorphosis - a celebration of impermanence & transformation

Kauri, MDF, Porters paints and sealers. 'Metamorphism depicts the growth, death and rebirth of a tree giving new form and function to 100-150 year old wood. The open brief of the Kauri Project has presented a wonderful opportunity to explore ideas. The original rectilinear design for a simple hall table evolved into something that has unleashed a fondness for organic forms and intuitive making. It has also been fun creating contrasting lines, textures, patterns and colours to illustrate the tree’s journey. The piece is unapologetically loud - it’s a celebration.'
