Alan Perry
'I am excited to be invited to participate in the ‘Kauri Project’. I am looking forward to the challenge of making pieces using the timber from the historic Kauri tree and to support the research by the Royal Botanic Gardens & Domain Trust. My career highlights are:
- 20 years working in the furniture industry as a tradesman, furniture designer and quantity surveyor
- 25 years as technical teacher of cabinetmaking
- 1 year at London College of Furniture, teaching furniture making, design and restoration
- Being active in the Furniture History Society of Australia and NSW Woodworkers Assoc.
- Retiring in 1990
- Designing curriculum for national TAFE'
