Fred Blake
'My path has been towards carved and sculptural items, mainly in wood but also in stone. Some objects are small and realistic, but some are mythological in theme, and a few showing a foray into a stylised mode.
A more serious approach to carving began in 1988 in a class with the inimitable teacher Michael Gill. Classes with other teachers followed. In recent years a greater sculptural element has been the goal in my carving, while exploration of the infinite variety of bowl forms also continues.
My work has been shown in a large number of exhibitions over the years and has won a number of prizes and awards'.
