Scientific name Acacia pustula Maiden & Blakely
Family  Fabaceae - Mimosoideae
Etymology

Genus: Greek, akakia, the name of Acacia arabica, of tropical Africa and western Asia (from akis, a sharp point, as this is a spiny species).

Species: Latin, pustula, blister or pimple-like, refers to the prominent marginal gland.

Distribution

This tree comes from the Leichhardt District of Queensland.

Native habitat Occurs on sand or sandy loam over sandstone, in eucalypt woodland or open forest.
Description A tree to 15 m with bright yellow flowers.
Flowering/fruiting Flowers in winter

Location in Garden

It is performing well in our Wattle Arboretum where we have plenty of room.

 

It is too large for the average backyard, but its lovely form and profuse flowers  make it desirable for large gardens and parks.
