Discover our Excursion Program Client Specific Educational Tours. Environmental and subject based lessons are delivered by qualified, enthusiastic teachers. Popular lessons include:

Two suggested itineraires are:

1. Australian Plants & Birds lesson (1-1.5 hrs)

Learn about native plants and birds on this lesson conducted within the Australian ecosystems of the award winning mountain garden.

The lesson package includes:

  • Darug Aboriginal Connections (Book on significance of plants in local Aboriginal culture)

2. Blue Mountains Wilderness lesson (2.5-3 hrs)

Enter the exclusive Conservation Area of 186 ha which is a local biodiversity hotspot. Students go on a rugged adventure through primitive rainforest with towering tree ferns. The lesson takes the students through woodland and Eucalyptus forest with views out over the world heritage Wollemi National Park.

Iconic Australian plants such as the Wollemi Pines, Banksias, Eucalypts, Waratahs and Wattles are examined. Students have the opportunity to hold 100 million year old fossils of the ancient relations of the modern Wollemi Pine and see the uncanny similarities.  Up to 150 different type of birds have been recorded in the garden with the main ones being; parrots, honey eaters, kookaburras, magpies and the curious scrub turkeys.  In the warmer months there is a chance of seeing the shy Blue Mountains Dragons.

Costs

  • All international school students: 1-1.5 hours. Set lessons for all school subject areas or custom planned for your specific group. Cost: $7 per student (Minimum fee $135)
  • Ecological Study Tour: 2.5-3hrs hours. Includes a visit to the Rainforest and Woodland in the adjacent Wilderness Conservation Area. Cost: $15 per student (Minimum fee $135)
  • Tertiary Institutions: 2-3 hours. Lessons planned and prepared according to need. Cost: $10 per student (Minimum fee $135)
