Budding Photography Workshop series

The Australian Botanic Garden, Mount Annan has released dates for its popular Budding Photography Workshop series for 2012. The series consists of five themed workshops with classroom tutorial and practical sessions exploring the art of photography.

Led by local photographer Martin Sperling, the first workshop will be held on Sunday 29 April and will cover topics such as the history of photography, using 35 mm SLR and DSLR cameras, shutter speeds, panning techniques, exposure modes, metering methods, film grain, image noise and image quality.

Workshop 2: People and Photography - Sunday 27 May
Workshop 3: Animal and Plant Photography - Sunday 3 June
Workshop 4: Landscape Photography - Sunday 17 June
Workshop 5: Macro Photography - Sunday 8 July

Garden Director Caz McCallum says 'The Garden is the perfect location to discover more about the wonderful art of photography. I encourage you to join a workshop and experiment with the natural beauty and unique character of the Garden.' 

The workshop series culminates in the Budding Photography Competition with six categories including People in Gardens, Plants and Animals, Landscapes, Up Close and Personal (Macro) and a category for students. The overall winner will receive $500 in prize money with category winners receiving $150.
