New Entrance at the Australian Botanic Garden, Mount AnnanThe new entrance to The Australian Botanic Garden, Mount Annan was officially opened on 27 September 2011 by The Hon Barry O'Farrell, Premier of NSW and Minister for Western Sydney and The Hon Robyn Parker, Minister for Environment and Heritage. The new entrance off Narellan Road will increase accessibility and visibility of the Garden and encourage more first time visitors to discover many new experiences on offer. It will provide visitors with a new perspective of the site as they join Cunningham Drive and experience the breath-taking beauty of Lake Nadungamba. This new approach has also required a change to the road direction of the central Yandel’ora Circuit. New directional signage incorporating the Garden’s strong new branding has been installed with further signage improvements planned. The current entrance off Mount Annan Drive will be available to pedestrians and cyclists only from 28 September. The community art project to celebrate the new entrance involved students from Mount Annan Public School, Mount Annan Christian College and local Girl Guides. Participants produced designs inspired by Australian plants for tree guards that encircle 100 Hoop Pine trees lining the new entrance way. The creative works of art will be on display for three months. There are still opportunities to dedicate one of these Hoop Pine trees to an individual, organisation or community group. Dedicating a tree will cost $2,500 and is 100% tax deductible. To make a dedication, contact Belinda Howell on 4634 7933. |
