The Green Desert exhibitionPlein Air Photographic Prize winner Peter Elfes showcases photographs from his prize winning exhibition as well as his highly successful exhibition in the Palm House last February, The Arrival, and his 2005 documentation of the re-enactment of George Caley’s exploratory trip to the Blue Mountains and the Mt Tomah region. The focus of this exhibition will be Lake Eyre and North Western NSW, with images taken from the air which detail the stunning effects of water on the extraordinary landscape around the lake and adjoining desert. His award winning photo in Green Desert came about as a request from the local Aboriginal people based in Wilcannia contacting him to visually document some of their country in a similar way. When: Wednesday 1 - Tuesday 28 February, 9.30 am-5 pm daily Also showing at Customs House, Circular Quay Sydney from 2 February to 28 May 2012, Monday to Friday 10 am -7 pm, Saturday to Sunday 11 am-4 pm, free entry. |
