Budding Photographer Exhibition at Australia’s largest Botanic Garden

With over 270 entries, this year’s Budding Photographer Competition is the biggest yet.

All photographs entered in the competition must have been taken at the Garden. This popular competition is a great way for entrants to explore the country’s largest botanic garden and further develop their skills in photography.

Glenn Smith took out top honours for 2013, with his exquisite photo Superb Wren being judged the best overall image as well as category winner for Plants & Animals. His close-up shot Majestic Orange also won the prize for best Macro shot. Carina Burns proved to be a hit with both judges and the public, garnering the best Landscapes category and the People’s Choice award for her stunning sunset shot taken from Sundial Hill entitled Best Seat in the House. Other category winners were Evan Pidgeon’s Up and Away (People in Gardens category); promising young photographer Jordan Mead’s Heaven (High School category) and the creatively styled and shot Sundial Flyby by Larissa Hooper (Primary School category).

A digital exhibition of entries will be held from 26 August to 15 September in the Visitor Centre.
