Creative Workshops for Kids!Kids will learn how to draw from nature and create their own masterpiece inspired by the stunning landscape unique to the Australian Botanic Garden, Mount Annan. For kids who want to discover the wonderful art of photography, the Garden is offering a beginners workshop where our younger visitors can learn to capture images of Australian wildlife, from creepy crawlies and colourful birds to endangered ecosystems. At the Australian Botanic Garden, Mount Annan, kids can bring out their creative side by joining one of the fabulous workshops on offer this spring at Australia’s largest botanic garden. Renowned painter and sculptor Gary Christian, selected as the Garden’s 2012 Artist-in-Residence, will host a free Sketching Safari for kids aged 8-13 years on how to draw from nature. This activity will be based in the beautiful Woodland area close to the sculpture that Gary created recently as part of the 2012 artist-in-residence program. Children can create their own artistic masterpiece inspired by the Garden. The Artist-in-Residence program is sponsored by Interlink Roads, owner and operator of the M5 Motorway. The Sketching Safari will take place on Sunday 28 October from 11 am to 1 pm. Places are limited and bookings are essential on 4634 7935. For kids who are budding photographers, the Garden is offering a specialised workshop on photography for kids aged 9-14 on Sunday 18 November in the Bowden Centre. The course will cover basic camera use, introduce exposure settings, offer insight into what makes a great photo subject and tips on how to make photographs more interesting. The course ends in a fun photography treasure hunt! Cost is $35 per child. Bookings are essential on 4634 7935. A discount of 10% applies for members of the Foundation and Friends.
