New collected poemsEd Wilson, long-time associate of the Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney, editor of Discovering the Domain and author of The Wishing Tree and Poetry of Place, has just brought out his New Collected Poems. Ed, a long-time associate of the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, has just brought out his New Collected Poems (Kardoorair Press, Armidale), with all the new poems since Anthology (2002), a considerable number of which are 'botanic verses', illustrated with the delicate pencil drawings by the late Elizabeth McAlpine. This hardcover volume of more than 700 pages (including preliminaries), with an Epilogue by Professor John Ryan, University of New England, plus revised and updated index and notes, will be launched by Danny Gardner at Live Poets, Don Bank Museum, 6 Napier Street North Sydney on Wednesday 24 October at 7.30 pm (Check the Live Poets Website, or phone 9876 6956). The cover is adapted from a tinted lino-cut of Flannel Flowers by Dell Patterson. It is quite crisp and thematic and consistent with Elizabeth McAlpine's drawings (Elizabeth illustrated all Ed's early books, but sadly died in 2006). Anyone who would like to attend would be most welcome. Just turn up at the night. There is a small entry fee to cover wine and nibbles. The book may be viewed on Ed Wilson's website, at www.edwinwilson.com.au. Books may be purchased at the Garden Shop, selected bookstores, or through Ed Wilson at Woodbine Press (email woodbinepress@hotmail.com), or through Kardoorair Press Armidale, or purchased at Live Poets on the night. RRP $22.00. |
