Foundation and Friends of the Botanic Gardens

Join us in helping your gardens grow

Your Botanic Gardens are places of lifelong learning in a living, breathing museum – and Foundation and Friends of the Botanic Garden are relied on, with your help, to keep them alive.

With up to 50% of the world’s plant species at risk of extinction, the Gardens work to research plant species and habitats, as well as the global threat to plant bio-diversity. They focus on celebrating the heritage and building a world-class botanical garden that is beautiful, tranquil and that can be enjoyed and appreciated by all – we support this vital work.

Our community of over 5000 members supports your Gardens in many different ways including:

  • Over three hundred volunteers exercise their culinary or organisational skills at events, putting their green thumbs to work propagating and selling plants that are rare, endangered and hard-to-find through our Growing Friends’ Nurseries, and sharing their knowledge with visitors at the information booth.
  • Others by enjoying our exhibitions, talks, walks, The Gardens (our seasonal magazine) or learning new skills at our workshops and in our botanical art classes.
  • Some jump on an airplane, bus or coach to enjoy a local, interstate or international tour.

If you’re a lover of plants, supporter of scientific research and conservation, and of quality community education, then join us as a member of Foundation and Friends of the Botanic Gardens. Find out more about becoming a member.
