Foundation & Friends special events each year include:

  • New Year's Eve in the Royal Botanic Garden
  • Artisans in the Gardens - an exhibition of superbly crafted work in a variety of media, on themes of plants and nature
  • International Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY) - exhibition that will showcase 70 remarkable entries
  • Botanica - an exhibition of fine botanical art
  • Growing Friends' Plant Sales -  plants propagated from stock in the three Botanic Gardens
  • Book Sale - Our annual sale includes pre-loved books on horticulture, environment and a number of other topics
  • Art School program - an opportunity to join classes on botanical painting and still life with acrylics
  • Basketry Program - discover the ancient and contemplative craft of basketry with professional basket makers
  • Tours - special interest tours for garden enthusiasts and nature lovers

Artisans in the Gardens

An exhibition showcasing extraordinary contemporary jewellery, ceramics, glass, textiles and sculpture, by some of Australia's finest established and talented emerging artists and craftspeople. Held within the beautiful surrounds of Lion Gate Lodge in the Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney, the exhibition focuses on the relationship between art and nature and draws upon the diverse inspiration of botany and environmentaly issues. Growing Friends' Plant Sales

The Growing Friends volunteers propagate tubestock from seeds and cuttings of plants growing in the Royal Botanic Garden, the Australian Botanic Garden and the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden. The stock includes unusual and hard-to-find plants, many drought-resistant. Please note not all species are stocked at all time. Please contact our office on 02 9231 8182 during busniess hours to confirm the availability of particular stock.

Book Sale

The next annual Foundation & Friends' Book Sale will be held on 22-23 May 2015. More information will be available shortly.

Each year the book sale features an amazing array of pre-loved books on horticulture, the environment, garden design, craft and cooking. Donations of second-hand books are welcome throughout the year at the Foundation & Friends office. For more information please phone the office on 02 9231 8182.

Art School Program
