| The genus Aloe contains approximately 200 species. They occur in the Arabian Peninsula, Cape Verde Is., tropical Africa, South Africa and Madagascar. This hybrid was formed by crossing Aloe x principis (itself a hybrid of A. arborescens and A. ferox) with A. arborescens var. frutescens. The scientific name Aloe has three syllables (A'l-o-e); the common name ‘aloe’ has two syllables (Al-oe). | |  |
