Twilight Music in the Garden - 21 November 2009Featuring
When: Saturday 21 November, gates open at 5.30 pm, show starts 6.30 pm Starting from scratch this year is a new event to be held at Mount Annan Botanic Garden’s Lakeside. Commencing at 6.30 pm on Saturday 21 November, the event is aimed at showcasing some of the local talent that the Macarthur area has produced and is the brain child of radio announcer Pat McGeown and marketing manager for the Garden, Rebecca Moutia. 'I love the Garden. I’ve been here for four and a half years now and have seen so much growth in both the Garden and our events. Lakeside especially is a natural amphitheatre and lends itself to so many things. We have a great list of events now including the very popular food and wine fair, but we wanted something that would promote both the Garden and the talented local community. So I contacted Pat and the rest is history,' said Rebecca. Pat is well known as both programmer and announcer on Macarthur’s own C91.3 and is constantly in awe of the talented musicians and artists that the local region produces. 'C91.3 has always been a supporter of local talent and my own show on Sunday’s regularly hosts new and upcoming stars. When Rebecca approached me I just thought, why not? It’s another way for our musicians and artists to beat their drum and show their community what they can do,' said Pat., 'Running the event without a sponsor is a big risk from the Garden’s perspective,' said director Caz McCallum. 'However I’m sure the local community will support this new event and our upcoming stars by coming along and enjoying what will be a great night in a wonderful garden setting.” Playing on the night will be guitarist Nathaniel Oliveri, duo Christie Lamb and James Cassar, as well as the very popular Camden Community Band. 'We have tried to include a broad variety of musical genres to ensure that no matter how old you are, you will find some playing whom you are sure to enjoy,' said Rebecca. 'We just hope that the community gets behind this initiative to promote our local performers so that we can grow this event into a summer series of music and fun in Mount Annan Botanic Garden.' |
