Access to the Royal Botanic Gardens on New Year's Eve
On 31 December 2009 the Royal Botanic Gardens will be open from 7 am until 3 pm, with access only via Morshead Gate on the corner of Macquarie and Bent Streets. There will be no access to public viewing areas or event sites via the Gardens at anytime on 31 December. The Royal Botanic Gardens will close at 3 pm and all members of the public will be required to exit via Morshead Gate.

The Botanic Gardens Trust is committed to achieving best practice in environmental management. Help us lessen the impact of NYE celebrations on our environment by making your new year’s resolution to be a part of the solution to environmental sustainability rather than the problem.  We need your help to keep the recycling streams clean. Please use the correct bin when disposing of general waste or recycling. If you bring a picnic, please pack it in reusable containers and take them home with you. All packaging of food and drinks sold on Trust land for NYE is biodegradable or recyclable. We cannot recycle containers if the recycling bins have general waste in them. If contaminated, the recycling station will send the containers to landfill.. Help us protect our environment and contribute to a sustainable future.

	Midnight at the Oasis 2009 Celebrate New Year's Eve 2009 in Sydney's beautiful Garden oasis. Offering panoramic harbour views and the 'BEST' location to see the city's fireworks display. TICKETS ON SALE FROM 12 OCTOBER
	Lawn with The View 2009 Your picnic will be provided so just grab a blanket and head to this exclusive area overlooking the Sydney Opera House and Harbour and enjoy panoramic views of Sydney’s greatest fireworks spectacle. SOLD OUT

Public viewing areas (managed access) 2009

The Botanic Gardens Trust has two FREE public viewing areas available to general public on New Year's Eve. These two public viewing areas are managed access events offering catering and bar services. Security bag checking will be in operation at all access points and restricted items will not be permitted. Mrs Macquaries Point Tarpeian Precinct - access via Macquarie Street

Friends of The Gardens ticketed event (members only) 2009

New Year's Eve with the Friends The Royal Botanic Gardens will be closed to the public for New Year's Eve, to protect the valuable plants. Huge crowds will throng to the Domain and Mrs Macquaries Point. Members of Friends of The Gardens have exclusive rights to buy tickets for entry to the Mare and Foal Lawn within the Royal Botanic Gardens. You can enjoy the relaxed ambience of the Royal Botanic Gardens, in a spacious area, and have a great view of the fireworks at 9 pm and midnight. SOLD OUT
