The Domain has a range of open spaces suitable for outdoor sports activity, which are conveniently located to the general public that live or work in the CBD.

Fields are marked out by the horticultural team in the Domain. The playing fields can be hired at an hourly rate.

Unfortunately, due to the current drought and resultant water restrictions in Sydney, the Royal Botanic Gardens & Domain Trust cannot always maintain turf condition at an optimal level. At times, sections of turf in the Domain are marked 'Closed' so that they can be restored.

It should be noted that no ball sports are permitted within the boundaries of the Royal Botanic Gardens, and no hard ball sports are permitted in the Domain (i.e. Cricket, Hockey etc.).
