Galtonia candicans

Location

The African section of the Rock Garden, just above the limestone section and adjacent to the Eurasian section. Also in the Conifer Cultivar Garden between the Depot and the northern entrance to the Gondwana Walk.

Pure white, slightly fragrant, pendulous, bell-shaped flowers cover the spikes on this grey-green foliaged plant from the high grassy slopes of eastern South Africa and Lesotho. A fertile, well-drained soil, with an adequate water supply during the growing season and a sunny, undisturbed position result in a good display year after year.
