Event: Mother's Day Classic (Sunday 12 May 2019)

The 22nd annual Mother’s Day Classic is a nation-wide community event that raises awareness for breast cancer through participation, fun, fitness and health. All proceeds raised through the event go towards the National Breast Cancer Foundation. It is a carnival style event with food, coffee, jumping castles, roving entertainers, live entertainment and information on breast cancer research.

 The 4 km / 8 km runs and 4 km / 7 km walks start just north of Martin Place in Macquarie Street and finish in the Phillip Precinct, Domain. Races commence in waves from 7.30 am, 8.10 am, 8.45 am. Up to 13,000 patrons are expected to attend.
We encourage patrons to use public transport to and from the event:

  • Train: exit via St James, Martin Place or Circular Quay

  • Ferry: walk to The Domain from Circular Quay

  • Bus: for timetables, maps and trip planning visit www.transportnsw.info

There will be road closures within the Sydney CBD and The Domain as follows: 

  • Art Gallery Road and Mrs Macquaries Road will be closed from 5.00 am to 12.00 noon. No parking will be permitted during these times.

  • Art Gallery NSW staff and other stakeholders requiring vehicle access to buildings in Art Gallery Road and Mrs Macquaries Road should bring company photo ID to gain entry through road closures prior to 6.00 am.  No vehicle access in or out of Art Gallery Road will be permitted after 6.00 am.

  • Hospital Road will be open to two way traffic from 5.00 am to 12.00 midday from Shakespeare Place only (via Cahill Expressway from the east). There will be no access from Art Gallery Road. A clearway will be in operation on the eastern side of Hospital Road.

  • Parking is available from 4.30 am in the Domain Carpark (operated by Wilson Parking). For prices visit: The Domain Car Park

  • External road closures and clearways are planned in the Sydney CBD to facilitate this event. For the latest traffic information, visit www.livetraffic.com and search event under Major Events tab.

Sound checks will be carried out between 6.00 am and 6.15 am with the event sound active onwards up to 12.00 noon. The event hotline will be active during sound checks and main event times.
