The Calyx is a world-class horticultural space located in the heart of the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney.
The Calyx has the largest green wall in the southern hemisphere and is an integrated mix of indoor and outdoor areas. As a living art exhibition, the space is always changing and evolving.
From time to time, The Calyx is closed to the public to allow the horticultural team to rejuvenate the popular displays, for infrastructure upgrades, regular maintenance or safety checks.
Scheduled closure in August 2019
While some of the carnivorous plants in the Plants with Bite display become dormant in winter, The Calyx will be closed for 2 weeks from Tuesday 13 August to Monday 26 August for scheduled maintenance, new plantings and additional upgrades.
During this time, we encourage visitors to explore the world-class horticultural displays throughout the Garden which can be viewed on our app or our website here.
If you are looking for an alternative location to the Calyx Café where you can enjoy a takeaway coffee or a delicious meal, the nearby Botanic Gardens Restaurant will be re-opening in August after being newly renovated.
Alternatively, Piccolo Me located outside the Palace Garden Gate, is an idyllic spot for a quick, tasty meal.
Our passionate volunteers look forward to seeing you when The Calyx reopens on Tuesday 27 August 2019 to show you the newly rejuvenated Plants with Bite horticulture display and a few new surprises too!
