The Fernery will be closed on 24 and 25 of June 2020

Ferns and their close allies, the mosses were amongst the earliest vascular plants to colonise the earth more than 350 million years ago.

Although most of the 12,000 fern species known to us today developed in the last 200 million years, we have a relic of a far more ancient era in the fernery.

From time to time, The Fernery is closed to the public to allow the horticultural team to rejuvenate the popular displays, for educational workshops or privately hired events.

Visitors to the Garden should take note that The Fernery will be closed on 24 and 25 June 2020.
