Our Science Staff

The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney is Australia’s oldest living scientific institution, studying and documenting plant life in NSW and Australia for 200 years.

Starting with the first European explorers collecting and naming species, our science has evolved to include plant pathology, genetics, ecology, seed science and wildlife research.

Our science team represent a range of disciplines and specialisations, working with a global network of collaborators to produce world class research.

The ultimate goal of the science at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney and the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan is to conserve Australian plants and fungi for the future.

Our scientists are passionate about their work and committed to continuing the work of their predecessors, there is still much to learn about the natural world.
