The Little Book of Walks
Explore The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney
New limited release visitor guide provides five insightful walks to explore the Garden
This 200th Birthday special edition book of self-guided walks features a range of well-known, and lesser known, stories of Australia’s oldest botanic garden.
The new walking guide was created by the Garden’s own Volunteer Guides and showcases the Garden’s history, world-class science and research facilities, wildlife, public art, sculpture, and plant collections.
This book represents five of the best walks, as chosen by the volunteers, which showcase what the Garden truly represents to our community.
The book was two years in development, with the five featured walks chosen from over 250 developed guide-led treks undertaken every year.
They take between 30 and 60 minutes in average duration, and are graded easy to moderate.
More than 100 passionate and knowledgeable guides has been heading out routinely, leading many thousands of visitors through our beautiful Garden for over 35 years.
Volunteers contributes over 60,000 hours of work with a value to the organisation of over $1.6 million with many more thousands with costs saved and money donated through sponsorship programs.
This keepsake of the Garden with iconic images was produced by the Volunteer Guides to celebrate the Garden’s 200th Birthday.
Copies of The Little Book of Walks are available from our Garden Shop.
We wanted to develop something tangible to share the Garden with our visitors and to represent the important work of the Volunteer Guides.
