Darren Martin joined the Community Greening team after teaching in primary schools for over 25 years. While teaching, he studied horticulture and permaculture and used these as tools to provide meaningful learning opportunities for his students. He now shares his skills and knowledge with adults to create healthy environments that sustain life and build community.
Darren works with people from all walks of life and is constantly amazed at the creativity and resilience of the people he works with. He especially enjoys supporting new arrivals to Australia, looking to build new lives, and experience Australian culture and gardening techniques while finding security in their homeland's food.
Darren believes in the healing qualities of natural spaces and promotes gardening as a form of therapy.
